Chris Spalding

Managing Director, Leapfrog UK

Chris Spalding is an experienced Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer with an impressive track record across various disciplines. Chris is currently thriving on the challenge of managing a business that up until this year was thought of as recession proof!

Chris joined Leapfrog Toys in July 2009 as the Managing Director for EMEA and Australia. Within this role he is responsible for operations across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australia both company owned and distributors. Chris also successfully oversees the sale of 500,000 units per year with varying lead times/ production issues, a testing practice in itself!

Chris joined Leapfrog Toys from Metro International where he held the post of International Chief Operating Officer for over 18 months. At Global Media Group, Chris was responsible for over 1,500 staff covering all disciplines including: Sales, Editorial, Logistics, I.T. HR and marketing in 21 countries producing over 8 million copies and over 21 million readers a day. During his time at Metro International, Chris enjoyed similar success to his experiences at Associated Newspapers. Here, he was largely responsible for double digit growth of the newspaper and also managed to reduce costs by over 20% following a rigorous cost and process review. Chris was also solely responsible for presenting the quarterly announcements to investors and analysts.
