Brian McBride
Managing Director, Amazon.co.uk
Brian is Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk, one of the UK's leading online retailers. Amazon.co.uk is owned by Seattle-based Amazon.com. The publicly-quoted company now operates in seven countries, with over thirty-three online stores in the United States and from its launch in 1995 now has an annual turnover of $20 billion.
Brian is 54 years old, married with two daughters and lives in Camberley, Surrey. He has an MA (Hons) in Economic History from the University of Glasgow. He is based at the company's UK office in Slough, Berkshire.
Brian joined the company in January 2006, bringing with him more than 25 years experience in the IT industry.He began his career with Xerox and subsequently worked at IBM, Crossfield Electronics, Madge Networks, Lucent, Dell Computers as Vice President, Northern Europe and as Managing Director of T-Mobile (UK).
Brian is also on the Board of the British Retail Consortium.
